Topic: Security Architecture – Castles or Casinos
Lunch sponsored by: DPSciences Corporation
Description: As business opportunities lead organizations to share information resources with suppliers, contractors, resellers, and/or customers, while government regulations and internal policies require tighter security controls, the tension between ease of access and strength of security increases.
In this seminar, Jeffrey Sweet (DPS Information Security Consultant) will lead a discussion on when it is appropriate to use the traditional “castle” architecture to define a solid network perimeter to keep trouble out, and when it is more appropriate to use a “casino” model that invites people in, but carefully watches and responds to their activities. We will offer case studies showing how DPS’ services and Cisco’s Self Defending network architecture can help solve these dilemmas.
Presenter: Jeffrey Sweet has over 27 years of IT and IT security experience. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and also holds the Information Technology Infrastructure Library Service Management (ITIL-SM) Certification. Prior to becoming a member of DPS Jeffrey spent a total of 14 years with the U.S. Army. Some of his duties with the Army included Chief of Military Police Investigations, Chief of Protective Services, Instructor of Computer Operations and Information Management Officer.
