But Wait... There's More

Last week members discussed internal apps and app stores, blockchain and more. Find ILTACON TV interviews from the client perspective. Explore curated sources on these topics including some from ILTA’s treasure chest.

Developing an Internal App Store

In an ILTACON TV interview Shaun Temby discussed the need to attract and retain the best and the brightest of the Millennial generation. For recruitment, firms need more than a great app or app store, but it would help. Before building, read the best practices article “Selecting the Right Applications for Working on the Go,” the case study “Outfitting Our Untethered Workforce” or better yet read the entire “Our Mobile Workforce” Peer to Peer issue. ILTA vendors, Caseflow and Tikit, offer advice in “What Should Law Firms and Legal Departments Keep in Mind When Developing Apps.” Before you get too deep into development for Millennials, heed the advice of Bruce Pfau in the Harvard Business Review article, “What Do Millennials Really Want at Work? The Same Things the Rest of Us Do.”

Prolific ILTA Volunteers

Our ILTA volunteers share their knowledge on blockchain, many cloud “as a Service” options and flipped training. Deborah Dobson wrote, “Blockchain: What You Need to Know.” Evan Benjamin wrote, “Who Moved My Servers?? – The Art of Outsourcing.” Tom Phelps wrote “Training & Development – Flipped Learning: Our Top 3 Benefits.”

SOMETHING EXTRA – Client Perspective on ILTACON TV and the 2016 ILTA/InsideLegal Technology Purchasing Survey

With an increased interest in the client in legal technology, I thought you might enjoy these ILTACON TV interviews from the client perspective. Vanessa Lozzi of Flagstar Bank and Jack Thompson of Sanofi talk about ILTA’s corporate legal department members and their interests in collaboration with law firms. Lucy Bassli of Microsoft shares her experiences working with firms to find improvements in process and communication.

InsideLegal released its 2016 ILTA/InsideLegal Technology Purchasing Survey at ILTACON last month. The survey contains a quick summary, “Notables and Quotables,” followed by detailed information on budgets, technology spending per attorney, specific technology purchases, trends in BYOD, security, artificial intelligence and more.
