Description

Data breaches have become commonplace across many sectors, and the threat evolves continuously. Get up to date as a supervisory special agent from the FBI discusses the current cyber threat landscape. We'll hear about cyber threats coming from criminals, nation-state actors, terrorists, insiders, and hacktivists, and learn how organizations and individuals can reduce their vulnerability.

This joint session will be held in conjunction with the Iowa chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators.

Presenter

Kenneth A. Schmutz is a Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) with the FBI, where he is the Supervisor of the Cyber Task Force in the Omaha Field Division. In his first assignment out of the FBI Academy in 2004, he investigated computer intrusions at the Seattle Field Office, including the first successful prosecution under the Can Spam Act of Robert A. Soloway. Kenneth was transferred to the Chicago Field Office in 2007, and spent two months in Romania assisting the national police with multiple prosecutions. In 2009, he was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent in the FBI's Cyber Division in Washington, D.C., focusing on cyber threats to critical infrastructure, then began his current assignment in 2012. Previously, SSA Schmutz worked at Novell for nine years.
