2020 Data Discovery Legal Year in Review

When:  Dec 17, 2020 from 12:00 to 13:00 (ET)

Description

A Complimentary Continuing Legal Education (CLE)* Online Program
Presented by Relativity and the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA)

From the U.S. Supreme Court considering the limits of what you can do on your work computer under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA) to a federal judge raising legal ethics concerns about self-collection of data in e-discovery to European data privacy issues to the voters of California approving the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) in the November elections, 2020 has been a big year for the law of data discovery.

In our sixth annual review of the legal developments in data discovery, we’ll be addressing these topics, how the pandemic has affected the year in the law, and more, we welcome U.S. Magistrate Judge Gary R. Jones for the judicial perspective, Professor William Hamilton with developments from the nation’s law schools, Amie Taal of the United Kingdom’s Strategem Tech Solutions with the international perspective along with Kelly Twigger of ESI Attorneys and eDiscovery Assistant and David Horrigan of Relativity providing legal analysis and a statistical breakdown of the year’s case law in e-discovery, data privacy, and data protection.

*This program is under for review for CLE credit in Florida, Illinois, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, and via reciprocity in California and New York.  We will seek CLE certification in other jurisdictions based on interest.

*The program is designed for CLE credit for attorneys, and CLE credit is pending in pertinent jurisdictions. However, these issues affect almost anyone, and the educational content will be helpful for litigation support professionals, technologists, paralegals, and anyone with an interest in how data law can impact our daily lives.
