Since exiting Kira Systems (sold to Litera, backed by HG Capital) in 2021, I've focused my time on mentoring and advising first-time founder/CEOs.
I love learning about new businesses and helping founders create strategies that carve out their own sustainable advantages over the competition -- and ultimately, also helping to design processes that scale sustainable business models. (i.e. the commercial or go-to-market strategy)
Most of my work is with AI and ML software companies that provide products to knowledge workers (lawyers, accountants, researchers, etc.).
I was previously the Chief Strategy Officer at Kira Systems, the leading machine learning contract analysis software provider.
Prior to that, I was General Manager for Business Law at Thomson Reuters, where I was responsible for strategy and commercialization of workflow solutions for transactional lawyers, including tools for securities research, deal points tracking, and contract drafting.
Prior to Thomson Reuters, I practiced law at Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco and at WilmerHale in Washington DC, with an emphasis on global technology transactions and telecommunications regulatory matters.
I hold a BA from Brown University, an MA in international relations from Johns Hopkins SAIS, and a law degree from UCLA. I am proficient in Japanese and live in Washington DC.
