PURPOSE:
The Women Who Lead mission is to empower women to advance and succeed in technology leadership positions within the legal industry. The Community is open to women and men who foster female leadership. Women Who Lead promotes educational, networking, and mentoring opportunities and encourages open, ongoing discussions about topics affecting women in technology workplaces. Women Who Lead does all of this with an eye towards giving back to the community.
ROLE:
The Women Who Lead Committee Co-Chair will help meet the goal of advancing women in leadership technology positions, and this will be accomplished through the development of thought-provoking educational sessions within ILTA's programming framework; collaborating with various ILTA volunteer groups in delivering educational sessions related to specific audiences or areas of focus; and acting as communication conduits. They will identify equally valuable networking opportunities to develop collaborative ways for members to share and gain value from their ILTA participation.
TERM:
- Two years and Co-Chair terms will be staggered
- Can reapply after two years of non-service
TEAM COMPOSITION:
The team is comprised of the following roles:
- Co-Chairs serve a staggered two-year term, starting in the September/October time frame, year one learning from the incumbent Co-Chair and ILTA Staff, year two mentoring, coaching, and leading the incoming Co-Chair
- A committee of at least three additional members; no more than 10 members
Reporting Structure:
- The committee is supported by the ILTA's VP of Content.
- This committee falls under the leadership of the Education Council and follows the guidelines as noted in the ILTA Volunteer Handbook.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead committee members in:
- Developing the strategy and goals for yearly programming for the Women Who Lead initiative
- Implementing direction for educational programming goals based on the Areas of Focus and Programming Priorities set by the Education Council
- Developing a one-hour educational program for ILTACON with committee members based, and securing speakers based on the approved ILTA timeline for ILTACON
- Developing a one-day educational program for the yearly Catalyst event with committee members, and securing speakers based on the approved ILTA timeline for Catalyst
- Mentor and provide leadership to committee members, ultimately building succession planning to ensure the successful continuation of Women Who Lead initiative
- Abide by ILTA's Conflict of Interest Policy
DUTIES:
- Lead bi-monthly team calls (2-4 hours monthly)
- Join and participate in weekly co-chair calls (2-3 hours monthly)
- Lead and/or participate in ad hoc project calls (up to 20 project hours per year)
- Attend Women Who Lead-affiliated events and ILTACON (as possible) (travel may be required)
- Serve as an ambassador for ILTA by promoting Women Who Lead and volunteerism throughout ILTA, via social media posting, and updates within various ILTA community channels (up to 10 project hours per year)
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE:
Objective Criteria:
- ILTA member
- Active Business Partner (ILTA365 and above), Industry Participant or Associate Participant. Membership or Sponsorship must be in good standing.
- Complete the ILTA Conflict of Interest Form
- At least one years’ experience working in legal technology or working in a leadership role outside of legal
- Experience as a speaker, author, or regular e-group contributor (or other volunteer experience within ILTA or similar professional organization)
- Willingness to accept direction from the volunteer leadership and ILTA staff as required
- Willingness at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values
- Preference given to those who have served as a Women Who Lead Committee member

COMPENSATION:
ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
