PURPOSE: 
The Women Who Lead mission is to empower women to advance and succeed in technology leadership positions within the legal industry. The Community is open to women and men who foster female leadership. Women Who Lead promotes educational, networking, and mentoring opportunities and encourages open, ongoing discussions about topics affecting women in technology workplaces. Women Who Lead does all of this with an eye towards giving back to the community. 

ROLE: 
The Women Who Lead Committee Member will help meet the goal of advancing women in leadership technology positions, and this will be accomplished through the development of thought-provoking educational sessions within ILTA's programming framework; collaborating with various ILTA volunteer groups in delivering educational sessions related to specific audiences or areas of focus; and acting as communication conduits. They will identify equally valuable networking opportunities to develop collaborative ways for members to share and gain value from their ILTA participation.

TERM: 
• Two years, with an option to reapply for up to two consecutive terms
• Can reapply after two years of non-service
 
TEAM COMPOSITION: 
The team is comprised of the following roles: 
• Co-Chairs serve a staggered two-year term, starting in the September/October time frame, year one learning from the incumbent Co-Chair and ILTA Staff, year two mentoring, coaching, and leading the incoming Co-Chair
• A committee of at least three additional members; no more than 10 members
 
Reporting Structure: 
• The committee is supported by ILTA's VP of Content, with committee leadership by the Women Who Lead Co-Chairs.
• This committee falls under the leadership of the Education Council and follows the guidelines as noted in the ILTA Volunteer Handbook.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Support the Co-Chairs in:
• Working with ILTA staff liaisons and other ILTA and industry groups to continue to build the value and success of the Women Who Lead initiative
• Identifying collaborative opportunities with other ILTA volunteer groups
• Working with ILTA Staff in planning Catalyst and ILTACON educational programming.
• Working with ILTA Staff in planning ILTACON Affiliate reception with other affiliate members
• Developing year-round educational programming
• Helping develop and maintain valuable content to ensure helpful resources for membership
• Acting as a vehicle for meaningful peer networking
• Participating on a team that selects the recipients of Women Who Lead scholarships and awards (as applicable)
• Coordinating participation in mentoring programs, charitable endeavors, and other ILTA volunteer groups to transition programs as appropriate to best serve the membership
 
DUTIES: 
• Attend and actively participate in bi-monthly team calls (up to 3 hours a month)
• Lead and/or participate in ad hoc project calls (up to 20 project hours per year)
• Attend Women Who Lead-affiliated events and ILTACON (as possible) (travel may be required)
• Serve as an ambassador for ILTA by promoting Women Who Lead and volunteerism throughout ILTA, via social media posting and updates within various ILTA community channels (up to 10 project hours per year)
 
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE:
 
Objective Criteria: 
• ILTA member
• Active Business Partner (ILTA365 and above), Industry Participant, or Associate Participant. Membership or Sponsorship must be in good standing.
• Complete the ILTA Conflict of Interest Form
• Complete the anti-harassment training
• At least one years’ experience working in legal technology or working in a leadership role outside of legal
• Experience as a speaker, author, or regular e-group contributor (or other volunteer experience within ILTA or similar professional organization)
• Willingness to accept direction from the volunteer leadership and ILTA staff as required
• Willingness at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA's core values

COMPENSATION: 
ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
