Description:

PURPOSE:
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force will work to ensure that ILTA advances the organization’s core value to “foster diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the ILTA community.”

ROLE:
Task Force members will address diversity within various areas within ILTA by looking at leadership, programming, charitable and community service, and support for the profession in general. The team will propose initiatives and actionable recommendations that promote and support diversity, equity and inclusion within the organization, volunteer roles, and the legal technology community as a whole.

TERM:
One (1) year, beginning in January 2021 (renewable subject to application/interview process and status of task force achieving its goals after the first year)

TEAM COMPOSITION:
The team includes:
  • Three (3) ILTA member volunteers who have served in leadership* roles for five or more years, one of whom will Chair the Task Force;
  • Three (3) ILTA member volunteers who have served in leadership* roles for fewer than two years;
  • Two (2) Business Partners, at least one of whom has been a Business Partner for fewer than two years;
  • Two (2) ILTA staff members, at least one of whom has been employed with ILTA for five or more years;
  • One (1) Board member liaison; and
  • ILTA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

*Leadership roles may be inclusive of professional or volunteer experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure ILTA advances its core value of fostering diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • Identify initiatives to promote diversity within ILTA’s volunteer leadership ranks, general membership, and the legal technology community as a whole;
  • Identify content that helps promote diversity;
  • Develop a recommendation regarding which characteristics of diversity, equity and types of inclusion ILTA should focus on;
  • Conduct research, surveys, and other investigations to establish a baseline for the ILTA community’s current level of diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • Develop metrics and benchmarks for evaluating ILTA’s success in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • Draft and propose a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy to the Board;
  • Propose and outline programs for enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion; and
  • Recommend other actions that support diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the organization

DUTIES:
  • Participate in bi-weekly meetings
  • Work with other ILTA volunteer groups to promote and encourage diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Review programming to ensure it is diverse, equitable and inclusive
  • Evaluate other programming options that other associations offer
  • Present recommendations to the Board of Directors
  • Provide quarterly status reports to the Board of Directors

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE:

Objective Criteria:
  • ILTA member or business partner
  • At least two years’ experience working in legal technology
  • Willingness to accept direction from the volunteer leadership and ILTA staff as required
  • Willingness at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values

COMPENSATION:
ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for approved expenses.
