2017 Study of the Legal Industry’s Information Security Practices

07-18-2017 08:46

This year’s 2017 Study of the Legal Industry’s Information Security Practices marks the 5th year of the annual study which was developed to assist legal organizations in North America in optimizing their information security program’s and practices. We continue to solicit feedback with the membership to enhance the report each year which has resulted in both the removal and addition of questions that where included in the 2016 study.

Because hackers continue to be successful and cybersecurity attacks are now becoming a routine occurrence, it is important more than ever for the legal industry to hold a microscope up to their individual information security practices, as well as to examine the state of security in the legal profession as a whole to proactively guard against becoming a breach statistic.

We are pleased to have facilitated a representative number of responses (118) in the study sample again this year and believe you will find the results informative and useful as you refine and enhance your Information Security programs.

Our goals have been consistent over the past five years with the report intended to answer persistent and difficult questions such as:

  • Is my organization in step with what my peers and others are doing with respect to the use of  technology and services to thwart various information security threats?
  • Is my organization adequately staffed and trained to ensure the optimal level of security to defend against a potential security breach?
