Creating a robust firm directory is a common priority in law firm intranet portal projects. SharePoint provides a robust platform for enabling a searchable, extensible firm directory application.  By using native SharePoint capabilities in conjunction with third-party tools, such as XMLAW OneView Connect, rich directory applications can be constructed without custom coding, that leverage existing attorney and employee information sources. In this session we'll review firm directory techniques and best practices.

Don White is the Director of Application Systems at Blank Rome LLP, one of America's largest and fastest growing law firms.  He has been involved with application programming and web development for the past 20 years, dedicating the past 10 years of his career to the legal industry.  Don has developed numerous internet, intranet and extranet sites for the firm.  He is currently working on the redesign of a new firm intranet, which will access information from all of the firm's major systems.  This new intranet will be able to display all of the relevant information from any of those systems side by side.  He currently leads a team of three dedicated professionals challenged with maintaining the integrity of the systems and the development of new applications to a firm of nearly 500 attorneys and some 700 staff members.

Robert Beach is the Vice-President of Client Services for XMLAW, having ultimate responsibility for the successful delivery of intranet and extranet portal solutions to all XMLAW clients.  He is actively involved in day-to-day client work, particularly with AmLaw 50 law firms focusing on portal visioning, strategy, needs assessment, requirements analysis and project planning.  He regularly facilitates focus groups and workshops with lawyers and staff of all levels, providing best practice experience and direction to firm IT and KM leadership.  When appropriate, Robert also provides technology expertise and leadership specifically around the Microsoft SharePoint Platform.  A 10-year veteran in legal industry software and consulting companies, and having over 17 years of information technology experience, he has held positions with Interface Software, Inforte Corporation and TTX Company.
