Summary: ILTA SharePoint Symposium 2012 will be held in the Chicago area on June 13 & 14, 2012. The responsibility of a SharePoint Symposium Committee member is to participate in the development of the educational program for the Symposium, with direct responsibility for the content development and speaker selection for two or three educational sessions.
Term: SharePoint Symposium Committee members serve a nine month term (ends with evaluation and the final reports from the Symposium)
Compensation: SharePoint Symposium Committee members do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses (not including travel to the Symposium).
Duties and Responsibilities of SharePoint Symposium Committee members
Committee Duties:
- Actively participate in Committee conference calls
- Work within the Symposium Planning calendar, meeting deadlines as required
- Work with the Committee and Peer Group steering committee (if applicable) to develop topics
- Work with speakers and moderators to develop content for those sessions assigned to you (approx. two - three).
- aActively participate in ILTA's Symposium Teamsite
- Review the published information related to your assigned sessions
Duties with respect to working with speakers:
- Solicit speakers for each assigned session, working with your peer group steering committee if applicable
- Work with ILTA staff to find the "right" speaker, following the Speaker Rules
- Work with the Committee to finalize speakers across all sessions
- Determine the best format for each session and work with speaker(s) to develop content within that format
- Use the Speaker Management Guidelines and Symposium Planning Calendar to work with speakers
- Manage your speakers to provide conference presentations and takeaways for posting on conference website and attendee thumb drive
- Evaluate your speakers in the session planning process
During the Symposium (if attending):
- manage your speakers and sessions, acting as Onsite Session Monitor for the sessions
- communicate with ILTA staff to help make the Symposium a success
Qualifications and Skills Required of SharePoint Symposium Committee Members
Qualifications
- At least three years' experience working in legal technology
- Passion for developing an exceptional educational program for ILTA members
- Willingness to commit time required (approx. 5 hours per month)
- Willingness to work within Symposium planning guidelines for session content development and working with speakers
- Willingness to accept direction from Symposium Chair or staff as required
- Willingness to at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA's core values
- Organization's willingness to support member's ILTA volunteer role
