Strategic Relationship Liaison (SRL)
Summary: The responsibility of the SRL is to develop and maintain a strong relationship with their assigned key strategic vendor by providing effective, regular communications between the key strategic vendor, peer groups and membership.
Term: A SRL will be appointed by the Board to serve a renewable one-year term with no limit on the number of consecutive terms.
Compensation: Volunteer leaders of the association do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
Duties and Responsibilities of Strategic Relationship Liaisons
Attending Meetings:
- Attend one face-to-face meeting each year (August)
- Monthly SRL teleconferences with Board Liaison and other SRLs
- Periodically attend peer group steering committee calls when invited
- There may be special or ad hoc meetings called if circumstances warrant
- Manage monthly/bimonthly teleconferences with SR vendor, inlcuding preparation of agenda, inviting participation by vendor and peer group contacts, leading the discussion
Recruiting Members:
- Serve as an ambassador for the organization
- Attend ILTA regional and peer group events, seeking out and soliciting new membership when appropriate
- Work with officers, other volunteer leaders and staff in educating active members about the benefits of ILTA membership in order to retain members
Volunteer Leaders' Responsibilities to the Organization

Qualifications Required of Strategic Relationship Liaisons
- Prior experience in an ILTA Board or Officer role
- At least five years' experience working in legal technology
- Attendance at ILTA's annual conference
- Advanced knowledge of legal technologies used in law firms or law departments as it relates to the scope of the SR vendor
- Experience:
o Managing groups of people
o Managing projects
o Conducting meetings (in person and conference calls)
o Analyzing and documenting processes and problems and suggesting solutions
o Mentoring

o Strategic Leadership/Management
o Effective delegation and leadership
o Teamwork
o Organizational skills
o Managing volunteers
o Good understanding of ILTA culture in ILTA volunteer role(s) – a good ILTA Ambassador
- Willingness to commit time required (3-5 hours per month)
- Willingness to accept direction from BOD or Staff as required
- Willingness at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA’s Core Values
