Summary: The responsibility of the steering committee is to assist the Peer Group Vice President with activities and educational programming related to the peer group.
Term: Steering Committee Members serve a one-year term, renewable each year at the time of the annual conference. There is no limit as to the number of years they can serve as a Steering Committee Member.
Compensation: Steering Committee Members do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
Duties and Responsibilities of Steering Committee Members
Attending Meetings:
- Attend monthly peer group steering committee teleconferences
- Attend steering committee members meeting at annual conference (if possible)
- There may be special or ad hoc meetings called if circumstances warrant
Recruiting Members:
- Serve as an ambassador for the organization
- Attend ILTA regional and peer group events, seeking out and soliciting new membership when appropriate
- Work with officers, other volunteer leaders and staff in educating active members about the benefits of ILTA membership in order to retain members
Volunteer Leaders' Responsibilities to the Organization

Qualifications and Skills Required of Steering Committee Members
Qualifications
- At least two years experience working in legal technology
- Interest in attending ILTA's annual conference
- Experience as a conference speaker, regular e-group contributor or other ILTA involvement
- Advanced knowledge of technologies relating to the peer group’s scope
- Experience related to the scope of the Peer Group
- Willingness to commit time required (4-8 hours per month)
- Willingness to work within the peer group scope to develop solid educational programming and publications for the ILTA membership
- Willingness to accept direction from the PGVP or ILTA staff as required
- Willingness at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values

- Teamwork – contributing to PG business plan, participating in ILTA-sponsored Leadership webinars, attend and participate in monthly calls of the steering committee
