Tip of the Week - NetDocuments—Folder Structure Template

NetDocuments—Folder Structure Template

We were asked recently if there was a way to set up a template of folders in NetDocuments.  (One of our practice groups uses the same yellow folders in each case, so it would be much simpler to create them once and then replicate them in each case.)

Our first inclination was that there wasn’t a way, but we tested and found a way to do it!  And we’re sharing our “EUREKA!” moment with you.

  1. Create the subfolders under a yellow folder in one workspace.
  2. In List View, choose Folder Options for the folder that contains all of the subfolders.
  3. Select Move/Copy.
  4. Select the matter to which you want to copy the folders.
  5. Click Copy.
  6. The following screen will appear:

  1. Rename the folder (if necessary) and deselect “Copy all the documents in these folders too” option if you just want a folder structure.
  2. Click OK. (You will be prompted to edit the profile of the folder.  Check Apply the above profile values to existing subfolders in this folder to avoid having to reprofile all of the subfolders.)
  3. Click Continue. (If another screen comes up, you can click Cancel and should be taken to your folder.)
