Summary: ILTACON Co-Chairs are responsible for achieving the strategic goals for the educational content of ILTA’s premier educational and networking event by:

  • Delivering high-quality educational sessions that bring value to attendees and their supporting organizations
  • Leveraging the expertise of internal and external communities
  • Developing and supporting planning committee members

ILTACON Co-Chairs serve on ILTA’s Program Planning Council, the team of volunteers responsible for delivering ILTA's overall programming framework.

TermThis opportunity is for the 2018 and 2019 conferences. ILTACON Co-Chairs serve a two-year term. 

  • Year one in a junior role, learning from the senior co-chair and ILTA staff
  • Year two in a senior role, mentoring, coaching and leading the junior co-chair and planning committee

The time commitment varies but averages 3-4 hours per week.

Compensation: ILTACON Co-Chairs do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses. We require a letter of approval from your organization authorizing this ILTA volunteer role.

Prerequisite: At least one year in the Team Coordinator role, inspiring team members to attain goals and pursue excellence around educational content, identifying opportunities for improvement and making constructive suggestions for change.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work within ILTA's programming framework, strategic goals and planning structure for ILTACON
  • Work with ILTA staff to:
    • Select, lead, coach, mentor and inspire ILTACON team coordinators, thought leaders and planning committee members with a focus on team building
    • Oversee the development of the comprehensive ILTACON program, identifying gaps and advancing the content to provide value to all target audiences
    • Keep the ILTACON planning committee on task and meeting deadlines
  • Act as an ILTA volunteer leader role model, balancing work, life and volunteer commitments
  • Conduct collaborative meetings and make presentations to small groups and large audiences (in person and conference calls)
  • Embrace an agile, nimble and flexible approach to ILTACON planning, participating in problem-solving and the continuous improvement process
  • Communicate in a positive style in person, on the phone and through email messages with ILTACON planning committee members, ILTA volunteer leadership and staff

Meeting Participation:

  • Participate in ILTACON planning meetings and Council in-person meetings requiring travel (4-5 times a year, mainly over weekends)
  • Attend ILTACON and pre-/post-ILTACON planning meetings
  • Participate in regular meetings (at least weekly) by call and/or video

Program Planning Council:

  • Actively participate in Council meetings (monthly phone calls and annually in person)
  • Assist in developing ILTA's overall annual programming framework
  • Communicate/collaborate with the Council regarding ILTACON programming and how it fits into the programming framework

Core Values:

  • Serve as an ambassador for ILTA
  • Reflect the professional conduct required of ILTA’s volunteer leadership
  • Attend ILTA events and seek opportunities to disseminate information on the benefits of membership, attending ILTACON and volunteering with ILTA
  • Work with other volunteer leaders and staff in educating active members about the benefits of ILTA membership
