Description:

The Programming Committee comprises of subject-matter experts and thought leaders in various areas of disciplines, representatives from various content areas who focus on law firm and law department members' needs at local and international levels. This group strategizes and plans the programming calendar, focusing on cross-team collaboration and content in support of the Programming Priorities, determined by the Education Council.


Role
The Programming Committee is an appointed team of volunteers responsible for delivering aligned programming which can include programming priorities, areas of focus, targeting specific audiences through multiple delivery formats.  This team liaises with all areas of the organization where educational development is a component of their team purpose. 

Term
Two year terms with a maximum of three concurrent terms; renewable subject to selection process; can reapply after two years of non-service: August 1 to July 31

Compensation
ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.

Team Composition

The team is comprised of individuals liaising, leading, or representing the following ILTA groups:

  • Programming Committee Co-Chairs (2)
  • Content Teams
    •    Programming Committee Liaisons for Leadership and Professional Development (1-2)
    •    Programming Committee Liaisons for Litigation and Practice Support (1-2)
    •    Programming Committee Liaisons for Practice Management (1-2)
    •    Programming Committee Liaisons for Technology Solutions (1-2)
    •    Programming Committee Liaisons for Knowledge Management and Marketing (1-2)
    •    Programming Committee Liaisons for Security and Compliance (1-2)
    •    Programming Committee Liaisons for Corporate (1-2)
  • Programming Committee Liaison for International Programming Team (1)
  • Programming Committee Liaison for Publications (1-2)

The team will be supported by the Digital Education Manager as their ILTA staff liaison.  


Responsibilities

  • Help execute ILTA'S Strategic Plan as it pertains to ILTA programming.
  • Deliver on the Programming Priorities for the year.
  • Lead and/or participate in specific Programming Committee initiatives.
  • Liaise, lead, or represent assigned ILTA volunteer teams. 
  • Coach ILTA volunteer leaders and Content Team, Team Coordinators
  • Embrace an agile, nimble and flexible approach to programming
  • Abide by ILTA's Conflict of Interest Policy


Duties

  • Participate in monthly one-hour conference calls.
  • Liaise with staff and volunteer groups to execute deliverables.
  • Participate in team discussions via Slack and/or Teams channels and email.
  • Up to Two In-Person, Virtual, or Other Multi-Day Meetings (as Scheduled) (with most travel expenses covered by ILTA)

Qualifications for Service
Objective Criteria:

  • ILTA Member, Industry Member or Business Partner in good standing
  • At least four years’ experience working in legal technology.
  • Past ILTA volunteer experience required.
  • Programming Committee Liaisons for Leadership and Professional Development, Litigation and Practice Support, Practice Management, Technology Solutions, Knowledge Management and Marketing, Security and Compliance, and Corporate Content Teams need to have at least two years prior volunteer experience developing content on a content coordinating team or equivalent committee.
  • Programming Committee Liaison for the International Programming Team needs to have at least one year’s prior volunteer experience within the volunteer group they represent.
  • Experience as a speaker, author, or regular e-group contributor (or other volunteer experience within ILTA or similar professional organization)
  • Willingness to accept direction from the volunteer leadership and ILTA staff as required.
  • Willingness at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values.
