Email is an organization's most important and widely-used communication platform, but it's also the application most susceptible to attack. Last year, 56 percent of firms suffered a ransomware attack and 34 percent suffered data loss because of an impersonation attack. We will take a look at a live email-borne hack, giving tips and advice on how to mitigate the chaos such an attack can wreak on your firm.

Presenter

Shayne Champion is the Chief Information Security Officer at Conversant Group. He has over 20 years of IT experience and holds several professional certifications including CISSP, CISA, and GSEC. Shayne has worked in a wide variety of IT security organizations in roles including director of information security & architecture for Erlanger Health System, senior program manager for Hydroelectric Cyber Security at the Tennessee Valley Authority and information system security officer for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. With a drive for process improvement, demonstrated knowledge and leadership abilities, he reduces IT risk by implementing robust internal control systems and understands the role of information security in support of the strategy. As a mentor, trainer and advocate for the information security profession, Shayne sits on several boards of directors including the local ISSA chapter, mentors for SANS and has served as an examiner for the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (the state-level agency for the National Baldrige Awards), provided training at national conferences and published internationally.
