LegalSEC Summit and ILTACON Health and Security Updates
Having experience working in crises such as September 11, the Icelandic Volcanic Eruption, tornadoes, numerous hurricanes, the SARS outbreak, and an unfortunate fish food poisoning incident, I have decided to look at our future events with a different eye. This change in perspective has led to a few changes.
Recommendations and changes you may notice at future ILTA events:
-
Signage informing you of the measures we have taken to ensure your safety and health
-
Reminders of ‘best practices’ for your physical safety and health
-
Increased safety measures which may include photo ids, scanned entry into activities, more on-site security, and enhanced cybersecurity
-
ILTA Team safety and health briefings and training before events
-
Teaming up with local health, medical, and safety teams before our events to ensure quick responses
-
Implementing more stringent housekeeping and food service procedures
-
Increase in cleaning frequently-touched surfaces
-
Additional hand sanitizer stations
-
A decrease in buffet-style food serving and an increase in individual-serving options
-
Continued conversations and collaboration with other associations and health and security organizations to ensure best practices for your security and well being
How you can help:
-
Stay on top of current news from reliable news sources and be aware of hyper/false news…a.k.a. ‘clickbait’
-
Take appropriate travel actions based on your health conditions
-
Talk with your healthcare provider and be up-to-date with your vaccinations
-
If you take medication, bring the necessary amount for your trip plus more, if you can
-
Make sure members of your team now your current list of health issues, medications, and emergency contact
-
Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water for a minimum of 40 seconds, in varying motions
-
Use alcohol-based sanitizer
-
Cover your mouth and nose when coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose
-
Never blow your nose, cough, or sneeze near food or beverage stations
-
Place used tissues in the garbage and then wash your hands
-
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
-
If you do not feel well, rest and take care of yourself
-
Encourage others to take care of themselves if they show signs of sickness
Our goal is to not only provide you with great networking opportunities and valuable educational content but to also provide a safe and healthy environment where you can do both. To accomplish this, we must work as a united team.
I look forward to working, learning, and seeing you all at our upcoming events. As always, if you have any questions, concerns or ideas, please reach out to me or any member of the ILTA Staff.
