2015 Already! e-Discovery Litigation Support - ready...set...let's go!

Another year has flown by, and in just days we will be stepping into 2015. A new year can be exciting and scary at the same time. Personally, I often review my year and do a self-examination of my accomplishments…and, oh yeah, revisit those non-accomplishments. As a Peer Group Steering Committee member, our brainstorming begins around this time, and I thought what a great time to reflect on some of our LPS programming!

At the beginning of 2014, the Litigation Support focus was on People, Process and Technology. It made sense since it seemed the recession was finally over and it was time to move forward in these three areas. It was time to forge ahead and look through the eyes of the attorneys with a great webinar: ESI Protocol 101: A Tale of Two Perspectives

Also at the top of the year, with the focus on Growth and Hiring, a golden nugget blog emerged: E-Discovery/Litigation Support Certifications – Shedding Some Light. This three-part blog contains a collection of interviews about everything one would need to know about the eDiscovery certifications out there. This is a must read!

By mid-year, it became evident that the need to revisit budgeting  and managed services were topics that were not going to go away any time soon. Two webinars –– What’s in Your E-Discovery Budget? and Litigation Support Solution in Emerging Services–– proved that this can be a topic of conversation for many years to come. These webinars were packed with information for those new to litigation support and for the seasoned professional looking for a refresher.

Also mid-year, the Litigation and Practice Support white paper was released, appropriately titled: Discovery Solutions: Process, Produces and Progress. The white paper offered so much information on all three subjects, it reads like an instruction manual. I definitely had to read it a few times and use it as a valuable resource.

News spread quickly about TrueCrypt’s development ending in May and the terminated support of Windows XP, which had many wondering “what should we use now?” And a podcast was born:  Media/Data Encryption – TrueCrypt or Not to TrueCrypt: What’s the Question Again?

By the annual conference in Nashville, I was chomping at the bit to get more of what I had ingested most of the year. The conference sessions were the icing on the LPS cake!  A Need for Speed: Leveraging Analytics in Document Review, What Makes Up ESI Protocols?, Geek to Chic: Smoothing the Techie Edges by Developing Advisory Skills, A Checklist for Getting the Most Out of Your E-Discovery Vendor Relationship, and E-Discovery Review Platform Selection - One Year Later. After attending, I realized the sessions fit perfectly within the topics of Process, Products and Progress. Take some time to listen to these conference sessions and share them with others, especially those new to this space.

As we’re approaching a new year, I am excited about our current brainstorming sessions. We have great topics on the horizon, from Personal Development to International Issues, but we can always use more great ideas from you. You can submit ideas all year long in our new IDEA Database. Enter now, and enter often! ;-)
