More Characters
| |
If you're looking for more keyboard characters, hold down the keys. For example, a long tap on the Comma key will bring an Apostrophe. A long press on the Ampersand gives you the option for Section symbol. Press and hold those keys to see what other options are available. |
Make Typing Easier
SPLIT the keyboard to make it easier to hold the iPad and type with your thumbs. First, bring up the keyboard in an app like Notes or Mail. Next, place two fingers at the center of the keyboard and push them away from each other. Reverse the motion to put the keyboard back together.
Can't master that motion? You can also place your finger on the keyboard icon in the bottom right corner and swipe up to split the keyboard.
If these options aren't working for you, go to SETTINGS > GENERAL > KEYBOARD and turn on the SPLIT KEYBOARD function.

QUICK APP LAUNCH

Too many apps and not enough time or patience to find the one you need?
On the HOME screen, swipe down from the center to access the SPOTLIGHT SEARCH screen and enter the name of the app to locate it in a flash. The icon will let you know the source of the results.
You may also customize what sources are included in your search results at SETTINGS > GENERAL > SPOTLIGHT SEARCH. For instance, you may wish to eliminate Messages. |
IMAGE CAPTURING
Screen Capture
A picture really is worth a thousand words sometimes, so capture your iPad's screen. Just hold the POWER button and, while holding it, press and release the HOME button. The display will flash and you'll hear a shutter click. The image will appear in the Camera Roll in PHOTOS.
E-mail Attachments
If you receive a picture as an attachment to an e-mail message, tap on it and choose the SAVE IMAGE option to save the attached picture to your Camera Roll.
SAVE $$$ ON DATA ROAMING
Two settings on your 3G-enabled iPad will disable your cell radio, so you don't get charged for data use. First, go to SETTINGS > CELLULAR DATA and disable both it and DATA ROAMING. The second option is to put your iPad in AIRPLANE MODE and turn on WI-FI under SETTINGS. This option is useful when you're in a hotel, at home or the office where you have Wi-Fi available.
