Word on the Promenade

Did you attend the orientation session tonight led by conference co-chairs, Tracy Elmblad and Rick Kryzminski? They had a great list of must attend sessions.

View From Above: Chiefs Address Industry Trends and Challenges, Monday at 1:00 p.m.

Threat Landscape for Legal, Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.

Watson, I Need You, Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.

Fail Forward: Failure as a Foundation for Success, Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

Are You Ready for Windows 10?, Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

Spark Talks, Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.

Watch the Kendeo Idea Wall grow throughout the week with forward thinking questions and ideas and look for conference sessions with storyboarding incorporated. Many industries storyboard to quickly generate ideas, identify the most salient issues and better highlight areas lacking sufficient information in planning and design processes. “Pictures get more engagement than mere text alone” according to “4 Powerful Reasons to Storyboard Your Business Ideas.”

In advance of ILTACON 2015, many members created lists of recommended sessions to attend based on the area of focus. Find links to these recommended sessions below.

David Hobbie’s Knowledge Management recommendations

John Thompson’s Billing Professionals and Financial Analysts recommendations

Julie Brown’s Litigation Support recommendations

Tim Golden’s Information Security recommendations

ILTACON TV

Throughout the week Randi Mayes, ILTA’s Executive Director, and Monica Bay, freelance journalist and Fellow at CodeX: The Stanford Center for Legal Informatics, will conduct video interviews of speakers, ILTA members and vendors during ILTACON 2015. Find these captivating interviews posted on ILTA’s website later this week and displayed on the screen outside the ILTACON TV room – Modena just past the Member Registration desk.

Quick Reminders:

After your first full day at ILTACON 2015, stop by the Palace Ballroom for the Local Member Networking Event at 5:30 p.m. You can socialize with peers from the same region or across all of ILTA while enjoying refreshments. Learn about ways you can get more involved with ILTA from veteran volunteers and play a networking game, Wristband Scrabble, with your peers for a chance to win a gift card.

As the local networking event wraps up, be sure to stick around for some live entertainment from ILTA’s all-volunteer legal technology band, Legal Bytes, at 6:30 p.m. Be delighted by their catchy original tunes such as “Bright Lights, Big Data” or my personal favorite, “iPad Girl.” I hear they plan to debut new material too.

Don’t miss the Exhibit Hall Opening Reception – “Once Upon a Time” in the Octavius Ballroom from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on Monday evening. Will there be data in distress or a new security tool involving pixie dust?
