PURPOSE:
ILTA's annual Technology Survey is recognized as the authoritative report on current and trending technologies and best practices used in law firms. It provides substantive data against which firms can benchmark their organization’s technology implementations and future plans.   

We're looking for a member volunteer who is a legal information technology subject matter expert who will work as part of the 2019 Technology Survey team (total of three member volunteers, ILTA staff and the survey contractor) for the entire life cycle of the technology survey, updating questions by adding or removing topics based on trending themes, working with other legal industry experts to ensure a balance of topics and ensure the survey maintains value to ILTA members and the legal industry. This is a great opportunity to both leverage and your substantive knowledge of legal technology.

ROLE:
Survey subject matter experts work as a team for the whole life cycle of the technology survey by vetting feedback from previous surveys, updating questions by adding or removing topics based on trending themes, working with other legal industry experts to ensure a balance of topics and ensure the survey maintains value to ILTA members and the legal industry. It is a great way to increase substantive knowledge of legal technology.

TERM:
Approximately one year, renewable subject to application/interview process: September 1 to August 31
     Note: Feb 2019 this position will start as soon as possible and end August 31, 2019

TEAM COMPOSITION:
The Technology Survey team is comprised of the following member volunteer roles:

  • Three Survey Subject Matter Experts who are ILTA volunteer members
  • Survey contractor
  • ILTA Staff, Senior Systems Analyst, Senior Content Manager, Publications, VP, Membership Education


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the Technology Survey remains the authoritative report on current and trending technologies and best practices used in law firms
  • Ensure the Technology Survey provides substantive data against which members can benchmark their organization’s technology implementations and future plans
  • Embrace an agile, nimble and flexible approach to teamwork
  • Exhibit a positive communication style in person, on the phone and through email messages with ILTA volunteer leaders, staff, consultants and business partners

DUTIES:

  • Actively participate in meetings and calls with the Technology Survey team
  • Work with various volunteer leadership teams to ensure questions and response options are accurate
  • Work with various volunteer leadership teams and business partners to ensure topics covered are relevant to trending topics
  • Thoroughly proofread for accuracy
  • Provide draft survey to various volunteer teams such as Planning Council, Strategic Relationship Liaisons, ILTACON Conference Committee, etc. to gain feedback before publishing
  • Assist with preparing an editorial overview of the survey results for the publication

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE:

Objective Criteria:

  • ILTA member
  • At least four to six years’ experience working in legal technology
  • Experience as a speaker, author, or regular e-group contributor (or other volunteer experience within ILTA or similar professional organization)
  • Willingness to accept direction from the volunteer leadership and ILTA staff as required
  • Willingness at all times to act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values

COMPENSATION:   

ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
