Storytelling Guidelines for Sharing Professional Growth and Lessons Learned

The stories you share should reflect key moments in your professional journey—times when you learned valuable lessons, encountered challenges, and discovered what works (and what doesn’t). These stories should be personal and relatable, offering a glimpse into your experiences, growth, and the wisdom you’ve gained along the way.

1

Personal Experience: Share moments from your career or professional life that shaped who you are today. This could be a turning point, a challenge you faced, or a decision that made a significant impact on your growth.

2

Lessons Learned: Highlight the key takeaways from your experiences. What did failure or success teach you? What insights did you gain that helped you improve or move forward? Be open about both the successes and setbacks, as they all contribute to your growth.

3

Advice to Others: Based on what you’ve learned, offer advice that can help others in similar situations. What would you tell someone starting out in your field? Or someone going through a challenging moment?

4

Authenticity: The goal is not just to share facts, but to share them in a way that resonates. Speak from the heart and make your story engaging. The more genuine and human you can make your story, the more impactful it will be for others.

5

What is one sentence of advice that improved or changed your life.

In essence, your story should offer a blend of reflection and actionable insight. By sharing both your victories and your failures, you’ll help others navigate their own professional paths with greater wisdom and confidence.
