Hello everyone. I hope you are all doing great. Whether or not you are conference this a great part of the year for us ILTAns. Many are here at ac2dc and others are not, but I can assure you that the energy levels are high anywhere you are, which is what I love more about conferece. I always go back home re-energized and ready to rollup my sleeves and rally my team towards achivieng great golas.

I meant to start this series earlier but let's just say that life got in the way. Now that I am at it I kind of happy that I did not start the hype before because there wasn't really any need for it. I mean, our LegalSEC™ Connected Community had about 20-25 people at peek which is pretty dearn awesome for a Sunday afternoon event. What did we do there? everything because LegalSEC™ is all about networking. We had firms from all demografics telling us all about their failures and successes. It seems like the financial sector is the one that is hitting us the most so keep an eye on that area folks; however, that doesn't mean that you should relex if don't serve that type of clients. I mean, from the small-to-mid firm being in deep talks with the FBI to the AM100 firm not knowing what the heck to do with China clients or practices, we have them all; the best part, I think that their concerns were heard and that valuable connections were made.

Anyway, what I really wanted to do was to let you know what we have going on at this year conference. I will try to keep you up with what we have going on daily. There is only one session tagged as LegalSEC™ but that doesn't mean that that's the only Informantion Security activity that we have going on.

Monday:
Key Note: The Medici Effect: Really? What the hell? Everythig...InfoSEC is all about the intersection of disciplines and cultures, especially so in a law firm...think about it, you know that is exactly where's at.

We kick it all of Monday at 11:00 with out first peer group session, To Protect and Serve: Security doesn't mean to only protect, it also means to react to when something happens (to me is more about damage control than trying to protect).Virtualization has taken root in legal data centers. Many tools are available to protect virtual servers — from storage snapshots to bare metal hypervisor backups.

What's your firm most critical system? Yes, we know is email and most likely some form of Microsoft Exchange and its 2010 version is taking center stage. Exchange 2010 database availability group (DAG), server virtualization and cloud services like Mimecast and MessageOne all provide different methods for protecting email data stores and email continuityCome see what firm are doing to protect tehir messaging system at Strategic Disaster Recovery with Exchange 2010 . Come see us at 1:00pm at National Harbor 12, 13.

Our peer group wraps up with sessions at 2:30pm and 4pm in the same rooms with Data Center vs. Collocation first, and closing with IPv6. You don't want to miss these two.

We are just warming up folks. More Infosec sessions are coming, we still have firms telling us why geetting ISO 27001 has been benfitial to them and why Law Departments are expecting law firms to answer questions about privacy, security and the retention of electronic information.

We are also launching this month's Peer to Peer Magazine focused on information security. I know I said this before, but your REALLY don't want to miss this issue. There's great information and lessons to be learned in this issue.

Most of this sessions will be recorded, so make sure you listen to them if you didn't make it to conference this year!

Last but not least, I want to thank our amazing conference committe team for the great job they have done putting this magnificient together. I wish I could mentioned them all but you know who you are. Kuddos to Rachelle Rennagel, Kathy Lentini, TJ and Gaynor (your last name is harder to spell than pronounce....) for ralling the troops. Also thanks to the SOSPG and LegalSEC™ teams for your hard work through the year, namely Jim McCue, Tom Crowe, Steven Shock, Mark Brophy, Sherri Vollick, Renee Murphy, Tim Golden, Bob DuBois, Bill Caraher, Brain Clayton, Patrick McCormick, Kevin Moore, Jeff Kunz, Norm Houle, Walter Rodriguez, Greg Burwell, Jamie Herman, and Rob Barker. ILTA wouldn't be so awesome without you.

I'll be right back

C.
