2014 & Looking Forward

By Jamie Herman posted 12-31-2014 15:02

As the end of 2014 is upon us, I thought it would be good to reflect on some of the challenges we faced this year, and what lies ahead for us in 2015.

From vulnerabilities with names and logos, to breaches and privacy regulation changes around the globe, the complexity of keeping information safe in an always-connected world continued to grow. The necessity for better visibility into endpoint behavior, egress traffic, and document handling gained more traction, and seems to be on a lot of my colleagues' minds for the coming budget year. We’ve seen so many innovative security software products come to life, all which offer next generation behavioral and malware protection, as well as help with incident response and non-compliant behavior in the enterprise. With all of this current and future visibility and forward thinking technology to protect us, where do we stand?

We stand unified and successful in our effort to improve the security posture of the legal industry, in a time where the cyber world is constantly under attack. We maintain accountability and the capability of correlating events back to specific users for non-compliant or nefarious behavior. We work collectively as a group to discuss concerns and risks that face many or all of our firms throughout the year, and in the process build stronger communication lines across the entire industry.

This has been a busy year for all of us in the security space, and 2015 shows no signs of letting up. I've had the pleasure of working with so many brilliant technologists and security professionals, and I thank all of you for your time and knowledge sharing. It is important for us to reflect on the foundation we’ve built throughout the legal industry, and continue to improve and expand upon that foundation. Here’s to protecting our firms in 2015, and more importantly…the health and success of everyone and their families!

Happy New Year
