What is in the works for 2020? During Ascend, the six content coordinating teams identified the big trends and what they will be working hard to deliver virtual programming on this year!

Corporate

Team Coordinator: Will Pett

What is the big trend/theme we will see in 2020? 

One of the big trends is more companies bringing eDiscovery in-house, as outlined in a recent Gartner article. Another big trend is the expansion of data analytics/data science in corporations. Information governance, particularly in relation to the move to the cloud.

What content is your team developing to address the trend?

We felt that eDiscovery coming in house is a perfect topic for the Corporate White Paper in June. We are planning a “data science for dummies” session aimed at outlining effective ways to explain data science to attorneys. For Information Governance, we are planning programs around where to store your data in the cloud and how this is impacted by various privacy laws, as well as how O365 impacts information governance efforts.

We are looking forward to providing programming that outlines issues faced by corporate and government members, and collaborating with our law firm peers on both educational and ILTACON programming.

What is the big trend/theme we will see in 2020? 

Continued focus on innovation within and across the legal industry.

What content is your team developing to address the trend?

Numerous sessions on innovation, across a variety of deliverables.

Numerous deliverables, including a webinar on cleaning up data prior to undertaking innovative projects, a roundtable discussion on managing innovative ideas, a webinar discussing new and innovative ways to track requests to marketing departments, and a podcast series on global legal innovators.

What is the big trend/theme we will see in 2020? 

  • Managing diverse platforms
  • Analytics/TAR

What content is your team developing to address the trend?

Developing content around existing software and tools, as well as programming around new software hitting the market. We are also reflecting on real world examples and incorporating that in our annual programming.

Practice Management

Team Coordinator: Tracey Pardo

What is the big trend/theme we will see in 2020? 

Data analysis/analytics, supporting data analysis. Also, the evolving roles in the legal field.

What content is your team developing to address the trend?

We are looking at 30-minute webinars, trying the new micro-learning, as well doing a twitter format where people can attend and ask questions of a person live on twitter.

We are looking forward to displaying data in new and transformative ways and experimenting with new and diversified formats to present our content to ILTA members, such as micro-learning and twitter casts.

Security and Information Governance seem to be the 2 main areas of interest this year.  Specifically the areas of tracking, logging and preparation.

What content is your team developing to address the trend?
