PURPOSE:
The Member Liaisons provide a centralized community in cities and regions where ILTA members work to promote, educate and advance ILTA membership and benefits, and foster member integration into the organization.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Member Liaison role includes:
• Organize local (city and/or regional) programming and plan social events, with potential option of split responsibilities (outlined below)
• Welcoming new members (via email or phone)
• Assist in answering membership questions
• Assist ILTA in delivery of ILTA services in and around their local area
• Encourage participation in ILTA
• Provide members opportunities to build relationships with each other and with ILTA
• Engage with vendors
• Deliver local networking and educational opportunities and events
• Plan, develop and deliver curriculum of events in local area
• Work with ILTA staff to coordinate local events, vendor support, etc.
• Network and brainstorm with Member Liaisons for successful planning and networking
• Work alongside other Member Liaisons in the area (where applicable) to divide work and efforts for educational, social, and membership tasks
o Educational Membership Liaison will plan, develop, and deliver educational events in the local area (i.e. vendor events, trainings on applications/information, roundtables about specific areas of technology, etc.)
o Social Membership Liaison will plan and develop social events in the local area (i.e. lunch meets, happy hours, etc.)
o Membership Member Liaison will plan, develop, and deliver membership events in the local area (i.e. ILTA-led events, informational events about ILTA and its purpose/mission, membership recruitment events for non-member organizations, etc.)
o Hybrid role option, where members are cross-trained in multiple responsibilities and/or smaller representation within a certain region/city.
TERM:
• One year, renewable subject to annual interview/approval: January 1 to December 31
• Staggered, where possible, for continuous coverage
DUTIES:
• Member Liaisons are required to participate in monthly phone calls
• New Member Liaisons are required to participate in mentoring program offered by Volunteer Leaders (title is to be determined, previous RCT)
• Co-Member Liaisons are required to participate in quarterly Co-Member Liaison phone calls, in additional to the monthly Member Liaison calls
• Participate in Member Liaison continuing education events
• Participate on project teams when needed, to develop local programming deliverable
• Schedule and coordinate local meetings, socials, and roadshows in assigned area (number of meetings depend on membership area)
• Collect local member insights regarding desired content/events, via personal outreach, surveys or meetings.
• Respond timely to ILTA Staff and Volunteer Leaders (title is to be determined, previous RCT)inquiries
• Coordinate with Volunteer Leaders (title is to be determined, previous RCT) on various projects and initiatives
• Encourage new ILTA membership
• Promote ILTA resources
• Be responsive to member requests and suggestions
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE:
Minimum Criteria:
• Active ILTA member, business partner or industry participant
• Ability to attend the Member Liaison Orientation
• Complete the ILTA Conflict of Interest Form
• At least one year of experience working in legal technology/legal industry
• Ability to accept direction from the volunteer leadership and ILTA staff as required
• Ability to lead a team and work within a team environment
• Act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values at all times
• Ability to work within a goal-oriented, results-driven team
• Ability to execute a project as defined by the volunteer leader/staff
• Ability to convey ideas with respectfulness
• Ability to provide practical programming direction for the organization
• Customer service experience
• Understanding of ILTA’s membership benefits

• Knowledge/experience of technology in the legal profession
• Effective interpersonal communication

COMPENSATION:
ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
