Changing Footnote Numbering

Word allows you to specify both a starting footnote number and whether the numbering is continuous or starts over with each new section or new page in a document.

1.         Click on the References tab.

2.         Click on the dialog box launcher in the bottom-right corner of the Footnotes group to display the Footnote and Endnote dialog box.

3.         Click on Footnotes.

4.         Change the Start At value to the beginning footnote number.

5.         Choose Continuous, Restart each section or Restart each page from the Numbering drop-down list to indicate how to count the footnotes.

Click on Apply. Then click on Cancel or click on Insert to add a footnote mark at the current document location.
