PURPOSE:
The Women in Security Advisory Committee provides guidance, support, and thought leadership to ILTA and the broader legal technology community on issues relating to women in the field of information security. The committee’s purpose is to amplify the voices of women in security, foster professional growth, and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal technology sector.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Advisory Member’s role is to provide expertise, perspective, and active participation in advancing the goals of the Women in Security Advisory Committee. Specifically, Advisory Members will:
• Contribute strategic insights and subject-matter expertise on security and developing opportunities for underrepresented groups with quality skills in the security space
• Serve as an advocate for women in security within ILTA and the legal technology community
• Support the design and execution of programming, resources, and initiatives that advance committee objectives
TERM:
Two-year terms with a maximum of three consecutive terms; renewable subject to selection process; can reapply after two years of non-service: August 1 to July 31
DUTIES:
• Attend meetings of the Women in Security Advisory Committee, which include monthly committee calls and up to four in-person meetings at various ILTA events. Attendance at a minimum of one in-person event meetings is preferred.
• Liaise with ILTA staff, other committees, and volunteer groups to support committee deliverables
• Assist in developing and reviewing content, including articles, webinars, and conference programming
• Represent ILTA and the committee at events, conferences, and community forums when appropriate
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICE:
Minimum Criteria
• Active ILTA member, business partner or industry participant
• Complete the ILTA Conflict of Interest Form
• At least two years’ professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, information governance, risk management, or related area, ideally within the legal industry
• Ability to accept direction from the volunteer leadership and ILTA staff as required
• Ability, at all times, to act as a reflection of ILTA’s core values
Preferred Skills:
• ILTA volunteer experience
• Effective interpersonal communication
• Willingness to advance women and underrepresented groups in security, through mentorship, advocacy, leadership, or community engagement
• Experience as a speaker, author, mentor, or contributor in the security or legal technology community
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
• Ability to respond to rapidly shifting priorities

COMPENSATION:
ILTA volunteer leaders do not receive compensation for their services but may be reimbursed for expenses.
