When I finished my undergrad I was not sure what I wanted to do with my life. I managed to come across the job posting for a college library/teaching position and quickly discovered that not only do I love to teach, but that I truly enjoy seeing the look on someone's face when they finally "get it." It's cool when I feel like I'm making a difference in helping someone out.
Shortly after my wife gave birth to our kiddo I thought it was a perfect time to get my MBA. ;) Then, right as I finished my studies, I got lucky again and stumbled across the job posting for a Training Specialist at Husch & Eppenberger. That was back in May, 2007. We quickly merged and have since become Husch Blackwell. I existed as a Training Specialist until Fall 2022 when our internal reorganization gave me the opportunity to become our firm's full-time Learning Systems Administrator.
While I still help every colleague I can with any question they throw at me, my primary duties are managing and maintaining our LMS as well as our content providers. I provide custom learning solutions for internal teams (helps to promote the LMS when everyone uses it!), develop one-off's to address needs from my internal customers, build reports and assist with data analysis when needed, and so much more.
Even though I don't provide much regular classroom instruction anymore I'm the primary trainer for many of our firm's Litigation databases/programs (TextMap, for example) as well as our in-house, custom estate planning database.
